    American filmmaker Paul Feig was always the bridesmaid and never the bride when it came to his career. At least that's how he saw it. But at 48-years old he's now the blushing bride. The writer, director and producer's latest film Bridesmaids is a colossal success, having just passed the $130 million mark at the US box office and opening in Australia last week. Feig said he relates to the central character Annie (Kristen Wiig) who's at a slump in her professional and personal life.

    ``It's the exactly kind of story I do in everything,'' he said.
    ``This person doesn't know where they belong in the grand scheme of things and that appeals to me because that's how I feel in every single moment of my life, even when things are going right.
    ``That's how I felt for a lot of my career. I mean, I think I'm making good work and then . . .
    ``Bridesmaids is the first thing I've had a big part in that's been successful.''

    Success is in the eye of the beholder when it comes to Feig. After meeting Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, The 40-Year Old Virgin) when they were both teenagers and doing stand-up together, the pair created Emmy-nominated teen series Freaks and Geeks. It was cancelled before the end of the first season, but not before it launched the careers of its stars James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel and Linda Cardellini. It also became a cult hit. Feig went on to direct several unsuccessful features such as I Am David and Unaccompanied Minors, before making a considerably more successful return to TV directing Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Mad Men, Weeds and the US version of The Office.

    But it was Apatow who coaxed him back to the big screen with a ``fantastic script'' from former Saturday Night Live star Kristen Wiig and her writing partner Annie Mumolo.

    ``With Bridesmaids, we wanted to tell a very relatable and real story that appealed to both women and men,'' he said.
    ``It was easy to avoid all the pitfalls of the chick flick genre because it's not how any of us thought.
    ``Those types of films come from people doing things they think women want to see, which is really condescending.
    ``We knew we wanted to go R-rated with it and we wanted women to see other women on screen who are just as dirty as they are.''

    From suffering food poisoning in a bridal shop to dropping the C-bomb, the ensemble cast of Bridesmaids don't play clean. Feig said he and executive producer Apatow even shot a PG-version of every scene in case the women at test screenings didn't like it.

    ``But they loved it,'' he said.

    The film follows a rag-tag group of Bridesmaids as they're led through the pre-wedding rituals of bachelorette parties, bridal showers and dress fittings. Led by Wiig, Bridemaids also stars Melissa McCarthy, Jon Hamm, Aussies Rose Byrne and Rebel Wilson (Thank God You're Here, Fat Pizza) in her first big Hollywood role. Wilson plays the sister of Annie's weird room mate, Little Britain's Matt Lucas.

    ``I'm so happy Rebel's in it, I'm such a big fan of hers,'' said Feig.
    ``The room mates weren't originally in the script but we knew Matt Lucas wanted to do something in the film but we didn't know where or what.
    ``Then Rebel came in to audition for one of the bridemaids and she was so hilarious, I turned and said to Judd `she looks like Matt's sister.'
    ``She's such a great improvisational comedienne and it's so exciting to have her in it.''

    With Bridemaids a financial and critical success and talk of a sequel, Feig and Apatow are now working on another comedy starring Mad Men's Jon Hamm. Hamm has openly spoken about his appreciation of the skilled and suave Fieg - who's known for wearing a suit to work everyday.

    ``Other directors are just a bunch of slobs,'' joked Feig, in reference to the director's stereotype of casual dressers.
    ``I've been doing it for the past 11 years.
    ``In fact, I went to direct Mad Men and I showed up on the first day and they thought I was there for casting.''

    Every 3 seconds the world loses a child due to hunger, disease and contaminated water. To highlight this fact on Universal Children's Day, the Wuppertaler Kurrende Boy's Choir performed Mad World in front of an unsuspecting audience. During the performance a singer left the stage every 3 seconds until only one boy was left to deliver the message to a stunned audience.

    April 3, 2013 marked the 40th aniiversary of the bar code. The first product ever scanned using a UPC back in 1974 was a 10-pack of Wrigley's Juicy Fruit Gum at the Marsh Supermarket in Troy, Ohio. In honor of the 40th we thought it might be fun to compose a list of some creative bar codes in advertising.

    For the UK's TigerTrust preservation charity a tigers stripes are made to look like a bar code. Created by ad agency Leo Burnett, Copywriter, Nick Bell and Art Director Mark Tutssel. I believe from back in 1998.

    In France a Renault burns out a few barcodes in this print ad from Publicis Conseil, copywriter Serge Ficard and art direction by Pascal Midavaine.

    Coca-Cola has a history of cute bottled shaped bar codes, this one from ad agency Chaitra Leo Burnett, India.

    Soul Tattoo & Piercing in Brazil ran this IRA Communication created tramp stamp print campaign back in 2008.

    The Belgian Federation of Food Banks asked us to donate a barcode and feed the hungry.

    Some where in Russia.

    For those of us old enough to remember Mad Magazine, they weren't too pleased back in '78 so they ran this cover hoping to jam every computer in the country...Sorry Mad Mag, you're plan didn't work.

    Ram Trucks "Man Made Drama"

    Mad Made Drama” is a tribute to the power of Ram Commercial trucks and man’s ability to shape the world around us through hard work and sheer will. Directed by Lucky Twenty One’s The Chartrands for advertising agency The Richards Group, the spot was edited by Lucky Post’s Logan Hefflefinger.

    The Chartrands scouted “Man Made Drama” in and around Portland in a Ram Truck, shooting additional footage along the way. To capture the desired images of both the truck and the surrounding environments, including a cameo by a highly trained Wolf Dog, the duo shot using a Phantom, Klaus Cam and car rig. “The agency provided a great concept and the trust to allow us to explore and elaborate,” comments Marc Chartrand. “Plus, they encouraged us to really put the truck through its paces and get it dirty which adds a level authenticity, not to mention fun,” adds Melanie Chartrand.

    Lucky Post’s Logan Hefflefinger shaped the footage, honing the visual narrative in collaboration with The Chartrands: “The Chartrands are incredibly talented and shoot with the edit in mind, providing a wealth of beautiful footage from which to craft the story.” Meanwhile, Lucky Post’s Seth Olson created graphics highlighting the Full Line’s accolades and Scottie Richardson designed a soundscape with intensity to match the visual narrative.

    “It was another great experience with The Chartrands and the folks at Lucky Post. We're lucky to have such talent,” concludes Rob Baker, Brand Creative with The Richards Group.

    While everyone is busy throwing their panties, sharpening their fangs and causing a ruckus about New Moon, there’s another monster movie worthy of your affection. Thankfully this one doesn’t focus on the sex appeal of an ethnic temptation werewolf and a broody vampire, but rather a zombie apocalypse.

    Ahhh, zombies, though they might be an excellent source or eye-gouging, flesh-tearing horror, Shaun Of The Dead taught us the undead can also be bloody funny (pun intended). But like Paris Hilton and a recording studio, horror and comedy can be toxic mix unless executed properly. Zombieland follows a rag-tag group who are trying to survive in a world overrun by zombies. There’s the central character Columbus, played by Jesse Eisenberg in another amicable turn after Adventureland, Whicta (Emma Stone), Tallahasse (Woody Harrelson) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin). While everyone cast is decent, Harrelson owns this movie as the Twinkie-addicted, bad ass that kills zombies with literally everything from a chainsaw to a banjo. Eisenberg’s wry, Michael Cera-esque comedic timing hits all the right spots and along with Harrelson, they make a highly watchable onscreen duo. There’s also an unforgettable cameo from Bill Murray, of which I can’t go in to too much detail without spoiling, but lets just say he’s awesome.

    You’ll be laughing from the opening credits onwards and there’s plenty of gore here to satisfy horror fans and aficionados of the zombie sub genre. Director Ruben Fleischer has mad a slick and stylish film, utilising slow motion for some of the chase and attack scenes with impressive results. When Eisenberg explains the rules for surviving Zombieland (“the first rule of zombieland: cardio. When the zombie outbreak first hit, the first to go, for obvious reasons... were the fatties”) the rule appears in text on screen at some of the most unexpected moments, but rather than annoy it adds to what is a ridiculously hilarious ride. With a hasty running time, Zombieland is some of the most fun I’ve had in a cinema this year and I can’t fault it.

    Immortalized — Strange Show — Strange Ads — It Works

    Juniper Jones recently completed a new series of commercials cfor AMC's new reality show, Immortalized and things do get a little strange.

    Immortalized, dives into the quirky and peculiar world of competitive taxidermy, and they wanted the commercial campaign to celebrate this unique brand of weirdness.

    These spots are a spin on stories featured in so many nature documentaries where wild animals face off against one another in an effort to survive; a mother hen must protect her chicks from a cunning fox, for example. This concept plays into the theme of competition so prevalent in the show.

    They also wanted to take the idea of these docs a step further and turn it completely on its head. Instead of taking place in the actual jungles of Africa or the forests of rural America, the animals are put in a diorama type set straight out of an eccentrically mad section of The Museum of Natural History. In the world of taxidermy the competition is just as fierce, and in the end, provides for captivating and bizarre results. Where else could you find a frankensteinian creature with the body of a gazelle and the head of a boar?

    Brilliant new ad campaign just unveiled for The Sunday Times, created by Grey London the "Icons" advert is thrill to view.

    Being tasked with promoting The Sunday Times’ month-long series and refresh of its Culture section got us thinking. What are people’s favourite iconic cultural moments across film, music, art and TV? Why do some things enter popular culture and remain there, while others fall by the wayside?

    Shot in one stunning take by Us through Academy Films, the film tips its hat to some of the most instantly recognisable moments from culture through the ages. In just 50 seconds, it recreates six iconic scenes from more than 500 years of history: Rodin’s The Thinker, the epochal ‘bench scene’ from Forrest Gump, the Mad Men title sequence, Michelangelo’s seminal Creation of Adam, the Mr Pink/Mr White ‘altercation’ from Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, and, finally, the helmeted, Grammy Award-winning electronic duo Daft Punk.

This one entitled "Italy's Coming To London" depicts Michelangelo's David replacing Horatio Nelson on his column in Trafalgar Square and renaming it "Piazza Trafalgar".     As part of a wider integrated campaign, Italy Live will include Londoners dining out with Italians via a live satellite link that will take place in Soho on August 26th. Just image, Italians and the English mingling together...has the world gone mad? (yes, that was sarcasm).

    Italy's coming to London this Summer. On Friday 26th July, Soho will be transformed into the Italian piazza of San Gimignano, Tuscany and we're giving you the chance to be there to have an authentic Italian dining experience.

    A hungry young man gets served some serious food for thought when a sausage starts telling his dramatic life story and what he hears and see's will change his life forever.

    Director Louis van Zwol decided to create this spot after reading ‘Eating Animals’ by author Jonathan Safran Foer. Together with production company IamErika, he assembled a team of advertising and film professionals from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, who wanted to make a difference. This project is a product of both their love for film and sense of ethical responsibility towards animals. Once the spot was produced, Mercy For Animals — a United States-based nonprofit dedicated to preventing cruelty to farmed animals and promoting compassionate food choices and policies — showed great interest. IamErika & MFA began working together to bring the message to the largest audience possible. Thanks to the work of MFA, a 60 second version of the spot is airing in New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago on MTV, VH1 & BRAVO & on HULU nationwide.
