  • Celebrity PSA Launch The Respect Challenge

Celebrity PSA Launch The Respect Challenge

Nicole Kidman, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Moore, baseball legend Willie Mays and more of Hollywood’s brightest are lending their voice to Futures Without Violence’s new Respect Challenge in a new PSA ad campaign.
    Press:

Nicole Kidman credits her parents. America Ferrera thanks her fifth grade teacher. And Willie Mays recognizes the impact of his father. To kick-off an online campaign and contest called The Respect Challenge, the national nonprofit Futures Without Violence has produced a PSA that features top celebrities expressing their gratitude to a person who taught them a valuable life lesson — a lesson in Respect.
The PSA, a key ingredient in the national Facebook campaign which launches on Monday, September 10, features responses from such VIP talent as Nicole Kidman, Ed Harris, Julianne Moore, Gabrielle Union, America Ferrera, Joe Torre, and Willie Mays. Aretha Franklin’s iconic song, “Respect,” provides the soundtrack for the video. The PSA will also be available on Facebook, futureswithoutviolence.org, giverespect.org. and YouTube.
“There’s never been a better time for a national conversation about Respect,” says Esta Soler founder and president of Futures Without Violence. “Whether you’re on the political campaign trail, or just headed back to middle school, let’s stand up to bullies and remind them about Respect.”
The interactive Facebook campaign, designed to celebrate everyday role models and heroes, provides an opportunity for the public to write an online thank you note, or post a thank you video about the person who taught them Respect. Two lucky entrants will earn a donation of $10,000 to a school or nonprofit organization of their choice, as well as a VIP trip to New York City to attend the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. After the initial entry period (September 10 – October 12), fans will be invited to vote on 10 finalists who have submitted a compelling written note or a video.
Scheduled for an online launch on Monday, September 10, The Respect Challenge was introduced at the San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers game on Sunday, September 9, when the Giants hosted their annual program, Strike Out Violence Day. Baseball legend Willie Mays, featured in the PSA, made a special appearance during the festivities.
Futures Without Violence, a national nonprofit and social change organization with offices in San Francisco, Washington DC and Boston, created the campaign with the generous help of AKQA, one of the most-respected ideas and innovation agencies in the world. AKQA’s San Francisco Media team not only provided strategic consultation but secured more than $400,000 in donated online advertising space for the campaign and contest.
Wildfire, a division of Google, and a leading social media marketing software provider, also volunteered their services to design and implement the Facebook application, and America Online’s in-house creative team offered their services to create compelling online banners and advertising units.
Macy’s, the founding partner of the RESPECT! campaign, has a strong history of support for education and awareness programs that promote positive solutions for healthy relationships.
“We hope that the positive stories generated through this campaign will remind us of the life-changing role that parents, teachers, coaches, and so many other mentors can have on shaping young lives,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s Chief Marketing Officer.

  • Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation — Run For The Future

Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation — Run For The Future

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) and DARE are launching an emotive new national campaign across TV, print, radio and online, to drive participation in the annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure being held this year on Sunday, October 6.

The new campaign was born through a strategic planning process, built on a compelling goal: with the support of the community, the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation will realize its vision of creating a future without breast cancer.

While CBCF’s vision is a clear one, previous Run marketing campaigns had taken a retrospective view, in memory of those who have struggled with the disease. DARE saw the need to re-focus on the central mission, making clear that the CIBC Run for the Cure is a step towards change for the future of women across Canada. The resulting campaign was thus developed around the strategic territory of “Running for the Future” – a future without breast cancer.

The creative, developed by DARE`s Executive Creative Director Paul Little, brought this strategic insight to life using the simple yet powerful concept of children telling us who they are running for in the future. Whether a daughter, wife or granddaughter who might be diagnosed with breast cancer, the campaign highlights that it is a future that they shouldn’t have to face, if we continue to raise funds and work toward finding a cure for breast cancer.

The TV executions, shot by Philistine, which is currently directors Tim Godsall and Steven Diller from OPC //FS, each focus on one story told by a child of the future person they are running for, while the print, shot by Melodie McDaniel from Brydges Mackinney, shows the simple line of who the children are running for in the future.

Chris Burke, Senior Manager, Event Marketing at CBCF, explains, “All charities, particularly health and cancer charities, are facing the challenge of a more crowded, sophisticated and competitive marketing environment. For CBCF, that’s comes against the backdrop of some great achievements in recent years. In 2012, it was estimated that 88 percent of women diagnosed with breast cancer will be alive five years after diagnosis, a 10 percent increase in the survival rate since 1987. This campaign reframes the discussion; making the cause relevant to everyone again and making people realize that this is still very much a cause that they should do something about, for women now and in the future.”

"We wanted to switch things up this year” adds DARE ECD Paul Little. "We wanted a different kind of logic that would make people really think about why they should participate in this event. The unfortunate reality is that breast cancer is harsh, but reminding us of that in a heavy handed ad isn't new. We wanted to surprise people and help them feel motivated by this initiative again.”
The national campaign consists of four 30 second TV commercials (3 in English and 1 in French), five print pieces, 2 radio spots and online banners. It also features strong social media elements, to extend the relationship with participants well before and beyond Run day. This includes a Facebook App that helps people submit their reasons for participating, creating shareable content to encourage people to support their friends who are getting involved.

The campaign will be in market from June 3rd 2013 through to run day on Sunday, October 6, 2013. For more information or to sign up to participate, please visit www.runforthecure.com.

  • "cärpe-díem mañana -The Hilfigers" | Tommy Hilfiger Multi-Media Ad Campaign

"cärpe-díem mañana -The Hilfigers" | Tommy Hilfiger Multi-Media Ad Campaign

The Tommy Hilfiger Group, which is wholly owned by PVH Corp. (NYSE: PVH), announces its Fall 2013 global advertising campaign, cärpe-díem mañana, featuring The Hilfigers – the beloved all-American family at the heart of the brand’s marketing strategy. The new campaign finds Chloe setting off for college, and when one of the The Hilfigers’ youngest moves on campus to start her first year, the whole group of eclectic characters tags along to help her settle in. The campus is teeming with new faces as several new characters join the family shenanigans.

Now in its seventh season, The Hilfigers campaign remains the ultimate personification of the preppy heritage and irreverent spirit of the Tommy Hilfiger brand. The campaign is photographed by Craig McDean, styled by Karl Templer and creatively directed by Trey Laird of Laird + Partners.

“Collegiate traditions and the preppy, Ivy League look were some of my earliest design inspirations and the starting point for our signature style,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “It was exciting to shoot this campaign at a location that embodies our brand heritage. There’s no better setting to highlight the collegiate prep inspirations, British sartorial influences and rich Anglo fabrics of the Fall 2013 runway collections.”

For Fall 2013, a select group of bloggers were invited to the campaign shoot where they were given behind the scenes access to the collection and Fall 2013 shoot. The bloggers were styled in looks from the collection before they were photographed alongside The Hilfigers, integrating these bloggers into the campaign experience and allowing them to develop exclusive content for their websites and social media channels. The bloggers announced the campaign to their global audiences just days before the images broke in September books.

Adding a new layer to the seasonal campaign, Lisa Birnbach, author of the The Official Preppy Handbook, created spirited, individualized head-to-toe descriptions for each character’s unique style that play on brand’s preppy-with-a-twist heritage. The quintessential cast of college characters includes the “Natty Professor,” the “A-Student,” the “Bookworm,” the “Ice Queen,” the “Après Dude,” the “Professional Student,” the “Social Chair,” the “Field Tripper,” the “Alum Prez,” the “Teacher’s Pet” and the “All American.” The head-to-toe images, accompanied by Lisa’s playful depictions, will be included in multi-page inserts in select September books, outdoor advertising and on tommy.com.

“Lisa Birnbach is a true prep connoisseur and the perfect person to characterize The Hilfigers’ unique prep style,” said Tommy Hilfiger. “I’ve loved working with Lisa throughout the years and we are excited to have her prep expertise included in this campaign season.”

“The Hilfigers continue to personify the global creative vision for the brand,” said Avery Baker, Chief Marketing Officer for The Tommy Hilfiger Group. “This season we’re incorporating new content elements that celebrate the brand’s history of infusing an unexpected twist to preppy tradition. Lisa Birnbach’s playful depictions of the family’s iconic prep style add further emphasis to the youthful irreverence that has long been at the heart of the Tommy Hilfiger brand, while our global blogger partnerships celebrate the increasingly international outlook of preppy style in a way only Tommy Hilfiger has achieved. The Hilfigers campaign resonates globally with our consumers now more than ever and we are excited to continue bringing fans of the brand engaging, shoppable content each season.”

Photographed in a preppy, collegiate setting with hair by Eugene Souleiman, and makeup by Mark Carrasquillo, the campaign features a similar cast of eclectic characters from past campaigns: Jacquelyn Jablonski, Bernard Fouquet, Chloe Blackshire, Arthur Kulkov, Julia Hafstrom, Lea Sorensen, Toni Garrn, Thomas Gledhill, Kim D, Sacha M'Baye, Tidiou M'Baye, Viggo Jonasson, Jourdan Dunn, Tian Yi and two Basset Hounds named Morgan IV and V. New additions to the family this season include Sasha Luss, Cora Emmanuel, Katya Riabinkina, Benjamin Eidem, RJ King and Marlon Teixeira.

“The heart of The Hilfigers campaigns is all about storytelling, and this season we really tried to take it to the next level,” said Trey Laird, Laird + Partners Chief Executive and Creative Officer. “With Chloe headed off to college, the whole clan descended on campus en masse! The university setting provided the ideal backdrop for not only that perfect fall collegiate feeling, but also new characters to bring it all to life.”

Cärpe-díem mañana will break worldwide Fall 2013 as a multi-media program with an online, print, outdoor and social media presence. The advertising campaign will break in September 2013 issues starting July 23 with full print ads running globally in key fashion publications such as Vanity Fair, Vogue, InStyle, ELLE, Glamour, GQ, Men’s Health and Esquire; multi-page inserts will be featured in select issues. New York City; key European cities such as London, Paris and Milan; and top districts in Hong Kong will have outdoor campaigns. Tommy.com and the brand’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube channels will feature the campaign images and video. For European consumers, a new feature on tommy.com will allow fans of the brand to seamlessly shop and discover the iconic Tommy Hilfiger products, collaborations and new collections.

  • Roxy Goes Social with Global User-Generated “Dare Yourself” Campaign

Roxy Goes Social with Global User-Generated “Dare Yourself” Campaign

Roxy, the world’s leading women’s lifestyle company, partnered with Digital Brand Architects and ClickFire Media to ask girls around the world: are you living life to the fullest? To extend this question to Roxy’s worldwide fan base, the boutique agency and digital design studio combined their expertise to create “Dare Yourself,” a social media campaign that challenged women to push their limits and empower themselves.

The “Dare Yourself” initiative challenged customers and fans of the Roxy brand to measure their exciting lifestyles against other women across a range of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and YouTube. Contestants participated by submitting a 150-word response along with three photos or a one-minute video demonstrating how they “Dare Themselves” every day. By entering, five women between the ages of 18-28 got a chance to win a trip of a lifetime. Additionally, contestants continue to interact with the brand via the #ROXYDARES Photo Challenge, an Instagram based gallery that invites women to submit photos of themselves completing weekly challenges.

To all the ROXY girls who Dare Themselves. This is for YOU!

The global campaign, which went live simultaneously in over 40 countries and 11 different languages, received 2,500 entries and collected some 245,887 “Likes” on Facebook, bringing the total to more than 2,879,000 to date. On Twitter, the #DAREYOURSELF hashtag earned an impressive 1.6M impressions while over 6,357 users shared their submissions via the #ROXYDARES Photo Challenge on Instagram, generating over 686,000 impressions.

As part of a growing trend of user-generated campaigns, “Dare Yourself” succeeded largely through the collaboration between DBA, ClickFire Media and the Roxy brand, which generated an online strategy that engaged fans with a positive message. Digital Brand Architects collaborated closely with Roxy on the aggressive influencer outreach effort, brokering partnerships with targeted media and bloggers – including Wavelength Surf Magazine, The Contrast Magazine, among many others – to secure exposure and engagement for the campaign among targeted audiences. This strategic prowess is matched only by the campaign’s technical underpinnings. ClickFire Media’s team of technologists and developers constructed a multi-lingual Facebook experience that coordinates user uploads, submissions, and voting through a custom-made content-management system. The Facebook experience also featured a dynamic photo gallery that pulls from the ever-growing collection of #ROXYDARES-tagged photos on Instagram, and an interactive map that used Google API to track submissions from Roxy girls across the world.

The new campaign is a logical follow-up to Roxy’s wildly successful 2012 ‘Let the Sea Set You Free’ campaign. “‘Let The Sea Set You Free’ campaign proved Roxy’s fans are not only fun-loving, adventurous, and epitomizing everything the brand stands for, but were also eager to engage and share their own content with the Roxy community,” explained Digital Brand Architect’s Annabelle Smith.

Saatchi & Saatchi LA Creates Campaign for the Reinvented 2012 Toyota Camry

“It’s Ready. Are You?” Touts Vehicle Innovation and Performance

Saatchi & Saatchi LA today announced the launch of the reinvented 2012 Camry campaign, one of the largest integrated marketing campaigns the agency has developed for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. “It‟s Ready. Are You?” demonstrates how the seventh-generation model addresses changes in consumers‟ vehicle needs, expectations and driving habits through the combination of new innovations and improvements to interior and exterior vehicle styling.

The campaign centers around six TV spots, beginning with the 30-second “Built,” which will make its national debut on October 16 during NBC's Sunday Night Football. The spot uses stunning animation and visual effects to highlight the Camry‟s new features and visually demonstrate the reinvention of Toyota‟s signature model. As the 2012 model builds around its driver, the spot touches on several of the key aspects midsize car buyers expect to get with their next car purchase.

“For nearly 30 years, Camry has been an icon of durability, quality and reliability. But with the new model, Toyota has made a serious upgrade in technology, safety, elegance, performance and flat out beauty,” said Chris Adams, executive creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi LA. “With the „Built‟ commercial, we had a lot of fun literally showing this reinvention in progress. It truly is a car built around the needs of today's drivers.”

Another 30-second TV spot, “Pit Stop,” pays homage to the Camry‟s racing heritage with Toyota NASCAR driver Kyle Busch. The ad shows how Toyota‟s excellence carries from the racetrack to the roadway by transforming the car in the speed of a pit stop to highlight the Camry's performance capabilities and intuitive mobile technology. “Pit Stop” will make its television debut on October 24.

Two additional TV commercials will roll out later this year. Further, broadcast momentum continues into next year with two spots in the Super Bowl and the Toyota Halftime Report.

The campaign also includes print ads, digital media, out-of-home boards and social media elements. Additionally, digital billboards featuring Camry imagery will run atop the Walgreens building in New York‟s Times Square to spark the public‟s interest and build intrigue for the 2012 model.

Beginning in November, consumers will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the 2012 Camry at over 125 events through March 2012. The Toyota Drive Center national ride and drive tour, along with activations at select Life Time Fitness locations across the country, will give the public a chance to experience the vehicle first hand.

To set the stage for the 2012 model launch, Toyota and Saatchi & Saatchi LA launched the Camry Effect website, which is designed to connect the nearly seven million Camry drivers in the United States through an intuitive, interactive, online experiencehttp://www.toyota.com/camryeffect.
The Camry Effect provides past and present Camry owners a platform to share stories, moments, memories and milestones of first dates, road trips, soccer games, interviews and college days while witnessing the collective “effect”

Embarrassing Drunken Walks Make For This Great PSA

Diageo's new "Think How You Drink" online ad campaign debuts in Western Europe that features some embarrassing drunken walks. "With this video we are deliberately using humor to catch people's attention," Malcolm D'Sa, Diageo's marketing innovation director for Western Europe, said in a statement. "Responsible drinking campaigns in the past have tended either to preach or to scare" he added. "We know that drinking to excess is a serious issue — but our primary concern is to be effective. The message, that drinking can have harmful consequences, is still in there and it is a strong message. We've just approached it in a different way."

  • Go Daddy Super Bowl XLVI "The Cloud" Sneak Peak with Danica Patrick and the PussyCat Dolls

Go Daddy Super Bowl XLVI "The Cloud" Sneak Peak with Danica Patrick and the PussyCat Dolls

Go Daddy is one of the first 2012 Super Bowl advertisers to give us a sneak peak at what they are up too. Go Daddy's Super Bowl commercials include two spots this year, "The Cloud" features Danica Patrick and The PussyCat Dolls and what seems to be some short of heavenly angel thing, which reminds me of the Axe Fallen Angel ads.

    The official press release:
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Super Bowl 2012 will mark a product milestone for Go Daddy. The world’s largest provider of Web hosting, domain name registrations and net-new SSL Certificates is known for its edgy ads with smokin’ hot Go Daddy Girls, but for the first time ever, Go Daddy is using one of its two edgy new Super Bowl commercials to specifically reference its cloud-based offerings.

Go Daddy has long delivered services “in the cloud” – providing individuals and businesses more efficient and less expensive online options. Now, it’s taking its product marketing to Super Bowl viewers with fun references to Go Daddy’s innovative offerings such as 4th Generation Hosting, known as 4GH.

The 30-second ad is called The Cloud. It features Go Daddy Girl Danica Patrick and the new Pussycat Dolls, along with several core product references in a “divine” setting. The Cloud is also Go Daddy’s most ambitious production in the company’s eight-year Super Bowl history. The storyline includes a revealing moment and an extravagant set design.

“How can we produce a Super Bowl ad that’s fun, edgy, slightly inappropriate and also speak to cloud-based products?” asked Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. “Like only Go Daddy can … trust me, it’ll be as GoDaddy-esque as ever. Danica will surpass her most revealing Go Daddy moment, from back in 2008 when she gave us the big unzip!”

Danica recently ranked the Internet’s Most Searched Athlete and she’s also a sort of Super Bowl staple. By most observers’ count, Danica has been in more Super Bowl ads than any other celebrity, and with this year’s campaign, she will have 11 big game ads on her resume, all with Go Daddy Productions.

“Doing Go Daddy’s Super Bowl commercials is always interesting, but this year’s are epic,” Danica said. “The commercials are very funny – there’s physical humor, and in The Cloud there’s a big-time dance routine. Yes, I dance. And I’ll say this, the dance sequence is as GoDaddy-esque as it gets!”

Go Daddy’s other 2012 Super Bowl ad also features Danica, along with her Go Daddy Girl colleague and fitness guru Jillian Michaels. Like Danica, Jillian is a strong woman and successful entrepreneur.

“I like the way Bob and Go Daddy portray women as strong and successful,” Jillian said. “Yes, the commercials are edgy and hot … but the Go Daddy Girls always have the last laugh, they are the ones in control. A lot of people don’t realize this, but Bob’s executive staff is made up of more women than men.”

The 30-second ad featuring Jillian and Danica is designed to bring massive consumer attention to the.CO domain, the Internet’s most popular new domain name extension. While Go Daddy is working to keep the specifics of the storyline under wraps for now, it has said the ad features a stunning international supermodel whose world-class body drew this comment from Jillian on-set: “If I made a DVD about how to get a body like hers, I’d be a gazillionaire.”

.CO Internet S.A.S. CEO Juan Diego Calle makes a cameo appearance in the Internet-only version of the commercial, along with Bob Parsons. “Not only was filming the Super Bowl ad a fun way to spend a work day, we know it will help take dot-CO to the next level – driving more business and boosting brand awareness,” said Calle. “Last year’s Super Bowl ad helped us to finish our first year with more than one million dot-CO domain names registered by people in more than 200 countries – and made dot-CO the hottest new Web address in the world!”

Go Daddy partnered with.CO Internet for the first time in the 2011 Super Bowl with great success. As for its cloud-based products and services, Go Daddy has been in the cloud since before the term was coined. Not surprisingly though, most people have more awareness of Go Daddy’s commercial campaigns … that may change with this year’s advertising leap into the cloud.

For the Pussycat Dolls, featured prominently in The Cloud’s outrageous dance scene, 2012 marks their first-ever Super Bowl commercial and serves as the unofficial launch of the new Pussycat Dolls.
