New Samsung Galaxy Alpha "Right Up Our Street" Advert

The new Galaxy Alpha from Samsung is launching. Lily Allen, Ben Skinner (the world’s number 2 surfer) and BMX star Harry Main join stylish Britons to bring their ‘swagger’ to the launch. Britain’s most popular phones. Music: Lily Allen “As long as I got you.” 60 second extended version below.

Press: Samsung Electronics has today revealed a new UK marketing campaign for its Galaxy Alpha smartphone. The £10 million campaign which includes TV, print, PR, search, social media, digital display and out-of-home, takes Samsung into new territory with the launch of an epic TVC featuring pop star Lily Allen.

The TVC will debut in the UK from this Saturday, 20th September with a one minute primetime spot. As the latest member of Samsung’s popular Galaxy smartphone range, the TVC demonstrates the role the Galaxy Alpha plays in the lives of everyday Britain, capturing the spirit, diversity, quirkiness and vibrant culture of the people that live here.

Filmed on location around England and directed by the acclaimed Josh & Xander, the TVC ‘Right up our street’ is set to the soundtrack of Lily Allen’s ‘As Long As I’ve Got You,’ and features the Galaxy Alpha throughout, showing it naturally entwined in the everyday lives of Alpha Britons, who embody the spirit of new modern Britain and its stylish youth culture.

Commenting on the launch campaign, Russell Taylor, Vice President of Corporate Marketing, Samsung UK & Ireland said: “The Galaxy Alpha is a smartphone that pushes the boundaries in terms of its style and technology and we wanted a campaign that was culturally relevant with young minded consumers. Our goal is to bring this mobile brand platform to life in a way that is relevant to our audience.”

Lily Allen commented: “I’m proud to be British, and it’s exciting to be involved with a campaign intended to be a love letter to my home country. Samsung and Josh & Xander have done an amazing job, the Alpha Briton campaign represents all the things I love about Britain; fashion, music, family...it’s all there.”

The Galaxy Alpha print and digital display campaign will show how Samsung’s beautifully designed new smartphone represents an alternative style choice and capture the uniqueness of British people. The TVC will feature 56 real-life Alpha Britons, some of whom also appear through-out the other elements of the campaign, who will each demonstrate their independent, varied and eclectic style choices.

Logan Wilmont, executive creative director at Cheil UK, the creative agency behind the campaign, added: “Britain is an amazingly diverse and creative culture. We have come through a difficult few years and have emerged as a positive confident and optimistic place. But sometimes we forget that. We wanted to celebrate that optimism. Samsung are the most popular phones in the UK, used by more people on more devices than any other phone. And we love the fact we fit so perfectly into this new Britain. And Lily Allen is the perfect encapsulation of all this. Positive, populist, stylish and fun.”

Matt Pye, COO at Cheil UK, added: “This is the first time we’ve worked with Samsung to create a brand platform in the UK, and significantly, one that will influence the way Samsung devices are marketed in the future. The platform holds exciting potential for future activity and I couldn’t be prouder that our teams have been a part of putting that in place.”

  • New IKEA "Living Together" Advert

    New IKEA "Living Together" Advert

IKEA is launching a new campaign in the UK and Ireland, titled ‘Make Room for Your Life’, which examines how good storage can improve your life at home. The work continues the brand’s new strategy to demonstrate an understanding of the everyday challenges that people face in their homes.

‘Make Room for Your Life’, which launches on 19th January, explores IKEA’s storage ranges and highlights a wide range of smart solutions for everyday storage problems. The campaign uses the insight that poor storage doesn’t just cause mess and clutter, it also affects our relationships and the people we live with. By illustrating the effects of poor storage, the new spot demonstrates that making room for your life through good storage can be the first step towards happiness and wellbeing.

The campaign launches with the TV ad ‘Living Together’ in the UK and Ireland on 19 January. The spot, created by the agency Mother, shows a couple kept apart by a maze of mess. However, thanks to smart storage solutions from IKEA, the couple can tidy their way through the maze, removing the clutter from their lives to finally meet across a KIVIK sofa bed.

‘Living Together’ features a cover version of the Bee Gees song ‘Living Together’ by the band An Escape Plan. Three versions of the TV advert have been produced and include 60” and 30” adverts that run until 23 March on TV as well as a full length music video running online at http://www.youtube.com/ikeauk. The campaign also features outdoor, press ads and two filmed documentaries that will be launching on 11 February on the IKEA UK YouTube page.

Peter Wright, IKEA UK and Ireland Marketing Manager, said, “With the second burst of our new brand campaign it is our ambition to continue the revitalisation and transformation of IKEA brand in the UK and Ireland. ‘Make Room for Your Life’ demonstrates our understanding of everyday life at home and the problems that a lack of good storage gives everybody. We hope to show that we are more relevant than ever to help with consumers’ everyday challenges and ultimately for more consumers to choose IKEA more often for their home furnishing needs.”

The campaign is also integrated into the IKEA FAMILY loyalty programme with a series of editorial-style e-newsletters, direct mail and product focused online content, created by agency LIDA. The emails direct members of the programme to further online content packed with ideas and tips to help them ‘make room for your life’ and suggest how they can cut out clutter and get sorted with storage in order to be more organised for the year ahead. They also give a taster of the new products launching in-store.

Freddy Mandy, Creative Director, at Mother, said: “The idea for the campaign came from the observation that mess and clutter in our homes keep people apart emotionally as well as physically. We decided to illustrate this in our TV spot which shows a couple unable to get to each other because their stuff forms a maze keeping them apart. They have to clean up their home in order to be together.”

“We all have that space in our homes that really isn't a space – it's a dumping ground. The direct mail piece homes in on this insight and shows that with a little help from IKEA's ingenious storage solutions, you might actually see that carpet again” says Nicky Bullard, Executive Creative Director of LIDA.

McDonald's 'We are all making the Games' Olympics TV Ad

McDonald's makes it all about it all about the people at the 2012 London Olympics with this new TV advert entitled "We All Make The Games."

    Press:
McDonald’s UK’s £10 million responsive advertising campaign to celebrate London 2012 – ‘We All Make The Games’ — was designed to use a multitude of media channels to capture, replay and celebrate the people, moments, and emotions that are helping make the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games such a spectacular event.

The overarching campaign launched on 25 June 2012 with in-store activity and outdoor advertising. TV, press and digital outdoor ads and other digital activity have followed, including a Facebook app which allows members of the British public and visitors to the Games to upload photos of themselves, friends and relatives getting into the spirit of the Games.

As Team GB make their way up the medal table and more people are getting swept along in the excitement of the Games, hundreds of moments of nationwide celebration are being captured through the user-generated element of the campaign.

McDonald’s has had over 20,000 active users of the Facebook App, in the period 13th to 30th July and 60 user-generated images have already been featured as part of the campaign – up on Piccadilly Lights in central London; printed in the Sun newspaper as half page ads; featured on the McDonald’s UK Facebook page and McDonald’s.co.uk and across digital outdoor screens across the UK.

A re-edited 60 second filmed documentary ad breaks on Saturday 4th August. Now titled ‘We’re all making the Games’, real fans have been filmed during the first week of the Games, capturing the highs, the lows, the passion and the those little intimate moments.

A selection of the user-generated images and additional filmed documentary material that is currently being captured at various fan parks across the UK will also be developed into a TV commercial developed especially for the Closing Ceremony.

  • Volkswagen, Made for real life "The Chase" Advert

Volkswagen, Made for real life "The Chase" Advert

Volkswagen UK is launching the final instalement, "Chase", part of its campaign to promote its long-standing support of independent cinemas throughout the UK.
The series of films, created by adam&eve DDB, sees the brand move away from its âSee film differentlyâ platform of the past few years, with the new line "Made for real life, not the movies".
It comes from the simple observation that although Volkswagen cars may be great for the needs of everyday life, they wouldn't be great cars to have in action movies, because of the safety technology they are equipped with.
Written by Nikki Lindman and Toby Brewer, directed by Hollywood movie director Paul W.S. Anderson at MOB Films, the films - Bus, Chase and Explosion - each portray classic action movie story lines. However, rather than featuring the typical action movie cars, Volkswagen cars star at the centre of each film.
The drama quickly unravels, thanks to various safety features, turning the films from high-action and high-drama films, to anti-action films rather quickly.
Communications Manager at Volkswagen UK, Silke Anderson, said: "We challenged adam&eve DDB to make our cars the centre of our long running cinema idents, which they did and more. We are sure that the public will like Made for real life' as we much as we do."

  • BBC Sport Advert for London 2012 Olympic Games

BBC Sport Advert for London 2012 Olympic Games

The trail is based around the concept of 'Stadium UK' — bringing the nation together in a huge Olympic Stadium to enjoy the BBC's comprehensive coverage of the London 2012 Games. Designed to be used across all the BBC's television, radio and digital Olympic content, it features the specially commissioned music First Steps by Elbow.

BBC comes under fire recently for their animated ad promoting the 2012 Olympics for copying the Lloyds TSB ad. Ironically both promotional spots were created by the ad agency Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe Y&R. The BBC’s trailer features the UK as a huge stadium with athletes preparing and competing for the Games which start on July 27.

Lloyds TSB’s ‘For the Journey’ adverts are known for their animated characters and utopian landscapes set to the classical piece Eliza's Aria by Elena Kats-Chernin.

The BBC advert featured cartoon swimmers in lanes created by buoys cast out by a fisherman, a BMX rider on a cliff edge and track cyclists racing around quarries.

Here's our new London 2012 TV ad (above). The ad brings together some of the favourite characters from previous Lloyds TSB adverts and shows how we're bringing London 2012 closer to communities all across the UK.

And, the ad features a new version of Eliza Aria, the great piece of music that's become as synonymous with Lloyds TSB TV adverts as the familiar voice of Julie Walters.

BBC 2012 marketing head Louisa Fyans said: ‘Animation enabled us to deliver to this brief and helped us create something really special for the BBC's London 2012 campaign.’

It was seen by millions – as Gary Lineker and his cohorts pulled in a peak of 15.5 million, averaging 13 million for the game.

The advert — which uses the tagline ‘wherever you are, never miss a moment with the BBC’ — will be used in the title sequence for the BBC’s Olympics TV coverage.

A Rainey Kelly spokesman said: ‘It is the culmination of a lot of hard work and we are very excited to feel part of the inspiration that this summer will bring.’

  • Start Up Agency Fabula Creates New Work For William Hill

Start Up Agency Fabula Creates New Work For William Hill

William Hill begins 2013 with a humorous campaign created by start-up agency Fabula. The TV and print campaign is Fabula's first work for the UK's biggest bookmaker since winning the account in October 2012.

The strategy is new and created in collaboration with The London Strategy Unit. It brings to life the fact that as the UK's biggest and most trusted bookmaker — William Hill people are full of passion and knowledge of the subject and betting.

The TV campaign consists of a series of ads depicting what it might be like inside William Hill, the Home of Betting. The films give an insight into how dedicated and knowledgeable William Hill is about all sport and betting. Two ads primarily focus on football and horse racing, followed by four ads that push particular offers.

Three main characters feature in the ads – a manager, a trader, and a ‘mobile’/tech expert. The characters and colleagues are as passionate about sport as the viewers and suggest they “unleash your mobiles” and “fire up your ipads”, encouraging betting fans to download the William Hill app and bet online. A horse that finds its way into the office even has its name – “Download the app” – emblazoned across its horse blanket.

Each film ends with new William Hill strapline “You know where to come. William Hill, the Home of Betting”. The spots were directed by Peter Lydon, of production company 76 Ltd.

Says Yan Elliott and Luke Williamson, Fabula founders: “We are very excited to have created this new campaign for William Hill. Since winning the business less than three months ago we have created a series of seven ads straight out of the traps!”

Kristof Fahy, CMO, William Hill plc, adds: “I have always admired the work of Yan and Luke and with this campaign they continue to show the talent that they have. They quickly understood that it's the people and our passion that makes William Hill the UK's number one and have brought that to life through the new campaign.”

  • McDonald’s — ‘Great Tastes of America’

McDonald’s — ‘Great Tastes of America’

McDonald’s has launched a new campaign to promote their American-themed food event, the Great Tastes of America. The five week promotion, which starts on 1st May, offers a new burger a week, each one featuring a flavour combination that depicts a different American location.
Created by Leo Burnett, the TV and national press campaign, centres around the premise that the ‘Great Tastes of America’ promotion brings a little taste of America to the UK. The campaign focuses on American quirks appearing in our day to day lives. The 30 second TV ad shows some typically American people and icons, contrasted against some typically British backdrops. The ad shows a London cabbie looking bemused as he sees a sea of New York style yellow cabs around him, a fisherman somewhat confused by an airboatpulling out of a quiet canal lock and a team of cheerleaders performing an energetic routine at a cricket game, much to the bewilderment of on-lookers.
Each week the new burger on offer features at the end of the commercial, with an American idiosyncrasy unique to that burger’s theme unfolding inside a McDonald’s restaurant as bemused UK customers tuck into their food.
The TV is supported by a press campaign inspired by the American tradition of specially designed number plates featuring model making by Paul Baker and photography by Richard Maxted.

Co-Operative Food "Here For You For Life" Christmas Advert

The UK based Co-Operative Food launches a new Christmas advert campaign directed by Peter Cattaneo entitled "Here For You For Life". The ads are heart warming and food-a-licious focusing on typical family scenarios. Full press below.

The Co-operative Food is launching its Christmas offering in a new multi-million pound festive campaign. Unveiled today (1 November), the campaign, created by Leo Burnett, marks a change in direction for the community retailer and highlights how the Co-operative is helping families keep the show on the road this Christmas.

In a series of television ads, many of them to be screened at prime time over the next eight weeks, The Co-operative Food will focus on the quality and availability of its products in moments of family need during the festive season, using a new strapline “Here For You For Life”.

The first 30-second brand commercial, directed by Oscar-nominated Peter Cattaneo of Full Monty fame, will appear on advertising breaks tonight. The ads will set key seasonal products against a backdrop of family situations at Christmas – for example, an unexpected guest arriving for Christmas dinner or the sudden need for a forgotten present – providing viewers with instantly recognisable scenarios and highlighting the retailer’s breadth of range and convenience.

There are 27 different executions of the commercial in all and the campaign will also be backed by national print advertising.

Steve Murrells, Chief Executive of The Co-operative Food, explained: “This Christmas, more than ever, people will be looking for real value close to home and, with a food store in every UK postal area, The Co-operative is perfectly placed to deliver.”

“However, rather than simply concentrating on price and product, this campaign will bring home the essential part The Co-operative Food can play in fulfilling those needs we all have in everyday life and especially at Christmas. It also has the added benefit of stressing the longevity of, and trust in, The Co-operative.”

The campaign, represents the first fruits of the partnership between The Co-operative Group and Leo Burnett, which was appointed as lead advertising agency earlier this year.

Justin Tindall, Executive Creative Director of Leo Burnett commented: "This new campaign is all about looking through the window of British life at Christmas. Real life, relatable situations in which The Co-operative can always be depended upon to have the right product at a fair price."

Peter Cattaneo has a wide range of ad credits to his name including work for Audi, KitKat, Volkswagen, Camelot and McDonald’s. He is also the director of the award-winning BBC 2 comedy ‘Rev’ about the tribulations of a vicar running an inner city parish.

Katherine Kelly, known to Coronation Street fans as Rovers Return barmaid Becky, has done the voice over for the campaign. Kelly has also recently won rave reviews for her performance in “She Stoops to Conquer” at the National Theatre.

A Rubik’s Cube is also the centerpiece of a print campaign which juxtaposes 21st century and 80s images to show the evolution of the iPod and Spotify, and the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The 60-second TV ad launches this month all over the world together with an extensive multimedia campaign.

Emanuele Madeddu, Vice President of Creative and Consumer Marketing for NGCI, said: “In reacquainting viewers with the riveting moments of the 1980s, National Geographic Channel’s new series illustrate how the 80s truly shaped the way we live today – minus the shoulder pads. To capture this contemporary take on a decade that holds a unique wonder for viewers around the globe, The Corner and our in-house team developed a clean, strong concept with a clever and thoroughly modern execution.”

Tom Ewart, Founding Partner at The Corner, commented: “Sometimes the simple ideas are the best. Taking the ultimate 80s icon, the Rubik’s Cube, and using it to tell the story of ten dramatic years that changed our world, has created something wholly relevant and compelling.”

‘The ’80s. The Decade That Made Us’ airs in the UK on Sunday May 12th at 8pm on National Geographic Channel.

Sanderson Jones Shares Some Success In New Gumtree Ads

Gumtree launches its new television and radio ads this week, celebrating the thousands of success stories shared every day by its 8.6 million buyers and sellers. Featuring comedian Sanderson Jones, the executions focus on three of the site’s top categories: Motors, Jobs and Goods.

Conceived by Fold7, the campaign launches on TV on 25 March, alongside radio in London, YouTube advertising, online display and mobile ads.

The campaign, titled ‘Success!’ aims to demonstrate the joy of doing a deal on Gumtree, with the strapline, ‘Millions of sellers, millions of buyers. Gumtree. Success!’ Jones plays a brand advocate who delights in seeing others get the car, job or item they want on the UK’s number one classifieds website.

The first advert will champion Gumtree’s Motors category, where Gumtree has the highest number of privately listed cars in the UK, and will air in 30” and 10” versions. The ads for Jobs and Goods will also run in 10” versions. All the ads from the campaign can be seen on Gumtree's YouTube channel.

Hamish Stone, Head of Marketing at Gumtree.com, said: “We wanted to create a campaign that celebrates the wonderful success stories experienced by our 8.6m users on a daily basis. The site is going from strength-to-strength and with our Motors category growing quickly, it’s the perfect time to launch our latest ads. We’re hoping they’ll be just as successful!”

Ryan Newey, Creative Director at Fold7, added, “This is our first work for the brand since we were appointed in January. The campaign focuses on the key take out that we want people to remember about Gumtree; whatever you’re looking to buy or sell, Gumtree = Success!”

Coca-Cola | Move to the Beat of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay

To celebrate the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay and your Future Flames, Coca-Cola brought the UK's hottest music artists to 66 nights of celebration around the UK.

Take a look back at the most memorable moments of the relay, as we follow the Olympic Flame on its journey from Land's End, all around the country and back to London in preparation of the Finale in Hyde Park and the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games. Featuring Dizzee Rascal, Eliza Doolittle, Friendly Fires, The Wanted, You Me At Six, Emeli Sandé, Labrinth, Rizzle Kicks, The Wombats and Wretch 32. via: YouTube

Also celebrating this Olympics Coca-Cola recently unveiled the "BeatBox" building, designed by architects Asif Khan and Pernilla Ohrstedt which will promote Coke's "Move To The Beat" ad campaign. The building was built with 230 bolsters that respond to touch with sound, the structure becomes one giant instrument.

Mark Ronson's "Move to the Beat" anthem — which has sounds like the squeaking of sports shoes, heartbeats, or an arrow striking a target — is the centerpiece of the building: visitors that touch the structure at different parts will essentially be remixing the track. Visitors can also climb up the exterior, and upon reaching the roof, will see the view of Olympic Park. Within the structure are different light and sound installations as well, designed by Jason Bruges Studio in Hackney. via: creativity-online
