  • Go Daddy Super Bowl XLVI "The Cloud" Sneak Peak with Danica Patrick and the PussyCat Dolls

Go Daddy Super Bowl XLVI "The Cloud" Sneak Peak with Danica Patrick and the PussyCat Dolls

Go Daddy is one of the first 2012 Super Bowl advertisers to give us a sneak peak at what they are up too. Go Daddy's Super Bowl commercials include two spots this year, "The Cloud" features Danica Patrick and The PussyCat Dolls and what seems to be some short of heavenly angel thing, which reminds me of the Axe Fallen Angel ads.

    The official press release:
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Super Bowl 2012 will mark a product milestone for Go Daddy. The world’s largest provider of Web hosting, domain name registrations and net-new SSL Certificates is known for its edgy ads with smokin’ hot Go Daddy Girls, but for the first time ever, Go Daddy is using one of its two edgy new Super Bowl commercials to specifically reference its cloud-based offerings.

Go Daddy has long delivered services “in the cloud” – providing individuals and businesses more efficient and less expensive online options. Now, it’s taking its product marketing to Super Bowl viewers with fun references to Go Daddy’s innovative offerings such as 4th Generation Hosting, known as 4GH.

The 30-second ad is called The Cloud. It features Go Daddy Girl Danica Patrick and the new Pussycat Dolls, along with several core product references in a “divine” setting. The Cloud is also Go Daddy’s most ambitious production in the company’s eight-year Super Bowl history. The storyline includes a revealing moment and an extravagant set design.

“How can we produce a Super Bowl ad that’s fun, edgy, slightly inappropriate and also speak to cloud-based products?” asked Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons. “Like only Go Daddy can … trust me, it’ll be as GoDaddy-esque as ever. Danica will surpass her most revealing Go Daddy moment, from back in 2008 when she gave us the big unzip!”

Danica recently ranked the Internet’s Most Searched Athlete and she’s also a sort of Super Bowl staple. By most observers’ count, Danica has been in more Super Bowl ads than any other celebrity, and with this year’s campaign, she will have 11 big game ads on her resume, all with Go Daddy Productions.

“Doing Go Daddy’s Super Bowl commercials is always interesting, but this year’s are epic,” Danica said. “The commercials are very funny – there’s physical humor, and in The Cloud there’s a big-time dance routine. Yes, I dance. And I’ll say this, the dance sequence is as GoDaddy-esque as it gets!”

Go Daddy’s other 2012 Super Bowl ad also features Danica, along with her Go Daddy Girl colleague and fitness guru Jillian Michaels. Like Danica, Jillian is a strong woman and successful entrepreneur.

“I like the way Bob and Go Daddy portray women as strong and successful,” Jillian said. “Yes, the commercials are edgy and hot … but the Go Daddy Girls always have the last laugh, they are the ones in control. A lot of people don’t realize this, but Bob’s executive staff is made up of more women than men.”

The 30-second ad featuring Jillian and Danica is designed to bring massive consumer attention to the.CO domain, the Internet’s most popular new domain name extension. While Go Daddy is working to keep the specifics of the storyline under wraps for now, it has said the ad features a stunning international supermodel whose world-class body drew this comment from Jillian on-set: “If I made a DVD about how to get a body like hers, I’d be a gazillionaire.”

.CO Internet S.A.S. CEO Juan Diego Calle makes a cameo appearance in the Internet-only version of the commercial, along with Bob Parsons. “Not only was filming the Super Bowl ad a fun way to spend a work day, we know it will help take dot-CO to the next level – driving more business and boosting brand awareness,” said Calle. “Last year’s Super Bowl ad helped us to finish our first year with more than one million dot-CO domain names registered by people in more than 200 countries – and made dot-CO the hottest new Web address in the world!”

Go Daddy partnered with.CO Internet for the first time in the 2011 Super Bowl with great success. As for its cloud-based products and services, Go Daddy has been in the cloud since before the term was coined. Not surprisingly though, most people have more awareness of Go Daddy’s commercial campaigns … that may change with this year’s advertising leap into the cloud.

For the Pussycat Dolls, featured prominently in The Cloud’s outrageous dance scene, 2012 marks their first-ever Super Bowl commercial and serves as the unofficial launch of the new Pussycat Dolls.

The Super Bowl is a global spectacle that millions of people crowd in front of their televisions for every year and with an estimated 7.3 million Canadian viewers taking in last year's Big Game, it's inevitable that social commentary takes place off the field. During the 2012 Super Bowl, a record 15 million tweets were tracked over the course of the game, with over 12 thousand per second. To ensure Canadians don't miss a minute, Samsung's SMART TVs feature on-screen connectivity to Twitter and Facebook applications via Social TV, allowing audiences to keep up with the action digitally and socially.

In 2012, Samsung Electronics aired its first Super Bowl ad launching a new category of smartphones with the Galaxy Note. The ad, which was developed by 72 and Sunny, and LA-based agency won the Twitter Ad Scrimmage that included 30 brands and 42 spots. The Galaxy Note went on to sell 10 million devices globally in 9 months followed by the Note II which sold 5 million devices globally in 2 months.

  • Super Bowl 2013 Ad Watch: Bar Refaeli The New Sexy Face of GoDaddy

Super Bowl 2013 Ad Watch: Bar Refaeli The New Sexy Face of GoDaddy

Ad agency Deutsch New York, is filming the one of 2 GoDaddy 2013 Super Bowl ads this week, GoDaddy also announced that one spot will feature supermodel Bar Refaeli with return GoDaddy girl, Danica Patrick, ironically in a spot entitled "Perfect Match".
Story via USA Today: Sexy Super Bowl ads may emit a tad less sizzle this go-round — but two will feature knock-out supermodels.

Go Daddy, historically the Super Bowl's raciest advertiser, on Friday will name supermodel Bar Refaeli as its newest Super Bowl-bound Go Daddy girl.

She was ranked No. 1 on Maxim's Hot 100 for 2012. The move comes just weeks after Mercedes-Benz announced that supermodel Kate Upton will star in its game spot.

Both models are former Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover girls.

But neither of the hotter-than-hot models will appear in racy attire. In fact, both will appear in formal dresses — as plans are right now. Even as Super Bowl marketers are reaching out to the world's most beautiful models, some appear to be evolving away from ultra-racy imagery.

"It's about intrigue and desire," says Noreen Jenny Laffey, president of Celebrity Endorsement Network, which links celebrities with marketers. "It's not what you see; it's what you don't see — but you know is there."

For Go Daddy, it's also an attempt to soften its image. "The new sexy at Go Daddy is all about the customer," says Barb Rechterman, chief marketing officer.

This will be Refaeli's first Super Bowl spot. The Israeli native, who has dated actor Leonardo DiCaprio on and off, will star with veteran race car driver Danica Patrick in the 30-second ad.

Refaeli, 27, who was the cover model for the 2009 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, says she has no hesitation about linking up with an advertiser whose brand image has been built and tarnished by its often-racy Super Bowl commercials.

"I am a model who is well known for her body and feminine image," she says. "I'm not here to make people think I'm the next Einstein."

The ad, to be filmed next week in Los Angeles, also features Patrick, who will star in her record 11th and 12th Super Bowl spots for Go Daddy.

Go Daddy won't reveal detailed contents of the spot, called "The Perfect Match." But the two will likely discuss why helping customers is the new meaning of sexy at Go Daddy.

While Refaeli's outfit in the commercial is still undecided, it will be a cocktail dress or something very formal, says Rechterman. "We're not thinking bikinis or anything like that," she says. "You might say we've come up in the world."

  • 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Super Bowl Ad "Team" Extended Cut

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Super Bowl Ad "Team" Extended Cut

As game day approaches, Hyundai is lifting the veil on its 30-second in-game commercial running in the first quarter. “Team” is a unique twist on a classic ‘tables turned’ tale; we follow a young boy as he recruits his own dream team to take on the neighborhood troublemakers. The all-new seven-passenger Santa Fe takes an active role helping the young boy and his mom gather a team to step up to the challenge.

To further engage fans, Hyundai is launching a mobile social experience that serves as a digital companion to “Team” and taps the power of Facebook’s friend network. Inspired by the all-new seven-passenger Hyundai Santa Fe, “Find Your 7” allows consumers to assemble their Super Bowl dream team online, assigning some of their best Facebook friends to each seat in a virtual Santa Fe. Each seat corresponds to a unique character archetype, mimicking groups of friends in the real world. By participating, users will be entered into a drawing to win seven tickets to the 2014 Super Bowl. Starting today, consumers can visit FindYour7.com and login with Facebook profile to the “Find Your 7” program.

“We had fun with ‘Team’ as it allowed us to highlight the seven seats in the all-new Santa Fe in a unique and memorable way,” said Steve Shannon, vice president, Marketing, Hyundai Motor America. “Taking this concept digitally only made sense as we recognize that Super Bowl viewers are no longer tethered to their TV during the game, but instead sharing and staying connected via mobile phone, tablet and other digital devices. By harnessing the power of Facebook, ‘Find Your 7’ creates an entertaining dual-screen experience that allows consumers to create their own dream team and have fun with friends across social media sites during the Big Game.”

“We were inspired to create a mobile ‘first’ for the Super Bowl,” said Tom Pettus, VP/Creative Director at INNOCEAN USA. “‘Find Your 7’ is a social experience designed specifically for mobile that intelligently drafts a ‘Dream Team’ of seven Facebook friends, based on the theme of the Super Bowl spot, ‘Team.’ What makes this experience magical, beyond winning a trip to next year’s Super Bowl, is that the program selects a team of your friends, who could be sitting watching The Big Game right next you.”

“Find Your 7” pre-populates the vehicle for the user based on intelligence gathered from a user’s connections on Facebook, including frequency of friend interactions, likes, etc. Unlike similar applications in the past where selections were made at random, this program determines candidates that are a true fit for each archetype. After people lock in their friend configuration and create a team name, a custom video introduces their dream team, assigning each of the seven teammates to their character archetypes: the muscle, the brains, the prankster, the motivational speaker, the technician and the loose cannon. The video, designed with the look and feel of an action movie trailer, dynamically incorporates elements such as the friends’ names, profile pictures, hometowns and interests to create a custom experience for each person that can be shared on all social channels.

“The Find Your 7 digital experience that INNOCEAN built for Hyundai is unique in that it was designed for mobile first,” said Bill Stephenson, Global Marketing Solutions, Facebook. “This is exactly how Facebook develops products as more and more digital content is consumed on the mobile device and the mobile experience will be particularly important given this launches during the Super Bowl. Also, the team at INNOCEAN and Hyundai spent an inordinate amount of time with the Facebook team thinking through the user experience and answering two questions that we use as a litmus test for branded experiences on Facebook – why would I care and why would I share?”

2013 Super Bowl Ad Watch: Psy Brings His Gangnam Style To Wonderful Pistachios

Wonderful Pistachios announced today that international pop sensation, PSY, will star in the brand's first-ever Super Bowl spot, airing during the big game on February 3. This newest installment in Wonderful Pistachios' iconic "Get Crackin'" ad campaign will also be the first time the "Gangnam Style" rapper has ever been featured in a U.S. television commercial.

"The Wonderful Pistachios brand is fun, just like me," said PSY, "Also, I love pistachios and I look good in green. The Super Bowl is way too big for me," jokes Psy (real name Jai-Sang Park). "I never dreamed of being a singer in America, so I of course never dreamed of being in a Super Bowl ad."

PSY hit the American music scene last year when his quirky "Gangnam Style" music video went viral and later made headlines by becoming the first YouTube video to break a billion views.
"The Super Bowl is the most widely watched sporting event of the year, 'Gangnam Style' is the most-watched YouTube video, and Wonderful Pistachios is the top-selling snack nut item on the market," said Marc Seguin, Paramount Farms vice president of marketing. "It's a powerhouse combination."

Directed by Grammy-Award-winning director Mathew Cullen, the official PSY "Get Crackin'" commercial will debut during Super Bowl XLVII. The spot will continue to air on cable channels and primetime television after the premiere and can be seen online at www.getcrackin.com and www.youtube.com/wonderfulpistachios, where viewers can also watch previous "Get Crackin'" commercials featuring talent such as Manny Pacquiao, Honey Badger, and Keyboard Cat.

Fans can get in on the action by uploading a picture of how they "Get Crackin' Gangnam Style'" for a chance to win a 12-month lease of a 2013 Mercedes Benz SLK 250 — the same model convertible driven by the now notorious "Yellow Suit Guy." Full Wonderful Pistachios sweepstakes details can be found at www.facebook.com/wonderfulpistachios.

  • YouTube Blog: Ads that entertain: YouTube’s top spots of 2011

YouTube Blog: Ads that entertain: YouTube’s top spots of 2011

YouTube Blog: Ads that entertain: YouTube’s top spots of 2011
We always knew people liked to watch the ads. At least some ads, like the great ones people talk about after the Super Bowl. Then YouTube came along in 2005 and brought with it the notion that ads can be great content that earn their way onto screens of all types, spread by consumers who vote, share, like, comment, blog, plus-one, or even create response videos or spoofs.

YouTube is the ultimate meritocracy for video, and advertisers are adapting to this world by creating content that people want to share. It’s no surprise, for example, that among the top-10 most-watched ads on YouTube in 2011 are two Super Bowl ads.

Most watched video ads of the year (eliminating music videos and trailers):
    1. VW — The Force

    2. T-Mobile — Royal Wedding

    3. Chrysler — Imported From Detroit

    4. DC Shoes — Ken Block's Gymkhana Four: The Hollywood Megamercial

    5. smartwater — Jennifer Aniston goes viral

    6. Team Hot Wheels — The Yellow Driver's World Record Jump

    7. Old Spice — Scent Vacation

    8. Apple — Introducing Siri on iPhone 4S

    9. Samsung — Unleash Your Fingers

    10. adidas — D Rose: adiZero Rose 2 The Bull

What is surprising is that the majority of YouTube’s top “ads” of 2011 (seems strange to call them that) never appeared on traditional TV at all.

Videos like T-Mobile’s Royal Wedding, itself a spoof of the JK Wedding Dance, were made for the web and made to amuse, entertain, and to be passed around, as are mini-movies like DC Shoe’s Gymkhana Four, stunts like Hot Wheel’s record jump, and Old Spice’s “Scent Vacation.”

Even the two Super Bowl ads making the list, Chrysler and Volkswagen, were part of elaborate campaigns made to live significant lives on the web. In the past, advertisers treated their Super Bowl spots like state secrets, but Volkswagen posted “The Force” on YouTube two weeks before the Super Bowl last year, and had 10 million views before the game began. Chrysler took the opposite approach, but created a video four times the length of a typical TV ad, perfect for extended watching on the web after the game.

For brands, creating great content—advertainment, if you will—isn’t just for big TV events like the Super Bowl anymore. Increasingly, advertisers and their agencies are focusing on the content and the strategy, and letting that content distribute itself. That doesn’t mean they aren’t doing traditional advertising. Indeed all of these campaigns were backed up by significant spending to seed and promote these videos on YouTube and elsewhere. But paid media only gets you so far. In the end, it doesn’t matter if they paid $3 million for 30-seconds in the Super Bowl or much less to get the conversation started. In the end, it’s the content that counts.

  • Super Bowl Ad Watch: Budweiser Tweets For The First Time — Name The New Clydesdale Foal

Super Bowl Ad Watch: Budweiser Tweets For The First Time — Name The New Clydesdale Foal

Budweiser has launched its first-ever Twitter account – www.twitter.com/budweiser. The account went live last night.

The iconic brand marked the occasion with another "first" involving the Budweiser Clydesdales – tweeting the first photo of a member of the elite "Budweiser Clydesdales Class of 2013," a beautiful 150-pound baby born the morning of Jan. 16. It was the brand's first-ever Tweet.

Using #clydesdales, Budweiser also is asking Twitter followers of @Budweiser and Facebook friends to help name the young equine star, who will be seen by an estimated 110+ million viewers next Sunday during Super Bowl XLVII.

"This newest member of the Budweiser Clydesdale family was 7 days old on the day this part of the Super Bowl commercial was filmed," said Jeff Knapper, general manager of Clydesdale operations. "A star was truly born on Jan. 16."
More than 30 baby Clydesdales are expected to be born this year at the 300-acre Warm Springs Ranch, the state-of-the-art breeding facility for the Budweiser Clydesdales in Boonville, Mo.

On Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 3, the Budweiser Clydesdales will appear in a new 60-second spot, "Brotherhood," which chronicles the bond a Clydesdale foal shares with his trainer. Partially shot at Warm Springs Ranch, "Brotherhood" will take the Clydesdales advertising into new territory by providing a new level of access to their early years.

This is the Clydesdale's 23rd Super Bowl spot since first appearing in a big game spot in 1986.

In addition to the baby foal born this month that will appear in the spot, other young Clydesdales, including an 8-month-old and a 2-year-old, will be featured, in addition to a full hitch of eight adult horses.
Budweiser's Twitter channel debuts after the social media platform introduced age verification, allowing the beer to restrict its tweets to users 21 and older.

    2013 A MILESTONE YEAR
The Clydesdales celebrate a major milestone in 2013 – the 80th anniversary of their association with Anheuser-Busch. The Budweiser Clydesdales have been an integral part of Anheuser-Busch's heritage since April 7, 1933, and their strength and majesty symbolize Budweiser quality as well as integrity, achievement, success, perfection and team spirit. They were formally introduced to celebrate the repeal of Prohibition for beer.
"The symbol has become synonymous with Budweiser — the quality that goes into the beer, as well as the time, energy and passion we put into taking care of the horses," Knapper said.

How is the baby Clydesdale featured in the commercial doing? Both mother, 7-year-old Darla, and baby are doing well, reports John Soto, supervisor of the breeding operations at Warm Springs Ranch in mid-Missouri.
"We have had two foals born so far this year and they're both doing very well," Soto said.

"We take great pride in each and every one of our horses, and Warm Springs Ranch is a great home," Knapper said. "The Budweiser Clydesdales are the envy of the equine world. We treat them like royalty, and they are among the best-cared-for animals in the world."

Anheuser-Busch has about 200 Clydesdales in its herd, with about half of them at Warm Springs Ranch in Cooper County.

"GASPOCALYPSE" Hyundai Canada Super Bowl Ad for Sonata Hybrid

Watch Hyundai Canada's official 2013 Big Game Day Commercial, titled "GASPOCALYPSE" starring the Sonata Hybrid, four 'weekend warriors', and a very generous Hyundai driver.

Last year, the Super Bowl was watched by over 111 million people worldwide with over 16 million Canadians viewing some or all of it. And, every year, the commercials generate almost as much interest as the game itself. Unlike the their American counterparts, very few Canadian companies create original ads to take advantage of these huge numbers.

Hyundai Auto Canada Corp (HACC) has done just that for a second year a row with a 60-second epic called “Gaspocalypse”. The commercial tips its hat to the post-apocalyptic film genre and punctuates the fuel efficiency of the Sonata Hybrid.

“We wanted to create a spot that truly measured up on the Super Bowl stage,” said Gary Westgate, Senior VP and ECD at Innocean Canada. “And the production company pulled out all the stops to make sure it felt like you’re watching a blockbuster movie.”

Adds John Vernile, Vice President Marketing, Hyundai Auto Canada Corp, “We are thrilled to be one of the few Canadian companies committed to creating a unique commercial for the 2013 Super Bowl. People across North America tune-in to the game as much for the commercials as for the action on the field, so there is no bigger stage than the Super Bowl to make a statement about our hybrid’s world class performance.”

In addition to the Super Bowl ad, which was created by BBDO New York, highlights of the year-long 'Better With M' campaign include multiple English and Spanish television, print and digital ads, in-store displays, consumer promotions and multiple social initiatives focused on Facebook and the hashtag, #betterwithmms. The first television ad from the new campaign – starring Ms. Brown – will being airing today.

A cornerstone of the campaign is a new cause-related marketing effort designed to make 'America Better With M' by funding the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes across the nation. As part of the initiative, M&M'S is also encouraging, as well as incentivizing fans to help 'M-Prove America' by volunteering at Habitat job sites nationwide.
"'Better With M' represents one of the largest marketing efforts in M&M'S history," added Benin. "We're confident our full range of communications and activities will excite consumers from the Super Bowl all the way through next winter's holiday season."

  • Buzz Aldrin Announces the AXE Apollo Space Academy

Buzz Aldrin Announces the AXE Apollo Space Academy

Legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin announces the creation of the AXE Apollo Space Academy. No joke.

Now, the Unilever brand is pushing the envelope just a bit more in two ways: entering the Super Bowl advertising derby, and launching a Red Bull-esque promotion in which it promises to send 22 people just to the edge of space, with the tagline: "Leave a man, come back a hero."

The Super Bowl ad doesn't seem like such a big deal in comparison, but it will be for Axe. The brand will be airing a 30-second TV ad during the Super Bowl titled "Lifeguard" which, according to a press release, "includes a twist at the end" that aligns with a larger creative campaign scheduled for launch this month.

That other creative campaign — which Gaston Vaneri, Axe brand director, promised would take the brand "to new heights" — involves what it's calling the Axe Apollo Space Academy. The brand's new online contest promises to send winners to the edge of space and back aboard a private craft: a Lynx space plane built by the U.S. company XCOR Aerospace and operated by the tourism firm Space Expedition Curacao.

At a normal ticket price of $95,000, the plane is set to begin passenger flights in 2014. Winners of the Axe contest must write about why they should be chosen to fly, while others online will vote on the entries, and must attend a three-day training course. The deadline is Super Bowl Sunday, February 3.

"Space travel for everyone is the next frontier in the human experience," Buzz Aldrin, member of the 1969 Apollo 11 mission to the moon and the world's second moonwalker, after the late Neil Armstrong, said in a statement, according to Axe. "I'm thrilled that Axe is giving the young people of today such an extraordinary opportunity to experience some of what I've encountered in space."

Filming already took place in and around New Orleans, where the city’s Mercedes-Benz Superdome will play host to Super Bowl XLVII. Popular Porn Site Pulls The Rejected Super Bowl Ad Stunt

A popular online hub for pornographically inclined individuals (haha ha) pulled a bogus Rejected Super Bowl Ad stunt, much like Peta and Ashley Madison did in previous years. Knowing full well they have no intention of dishing out the $4 million for a 30 second spot.

    PornHubs ridiculous press release...
"Super Bowl TV network CBS has stepped up its defensive line ahead of this Sunday's big game, blocking a proposed multi-million dollar commercial from Pornhub...a CBS spokesperson offered this brief response via email to the website's proposal: "CBS Television Network Standards do not permit advertising related to pornography. Therefore, we cannot accept your submission."
Pornhub Vice President Corey Price said: "The Super Bowl is the Holy Grail of ad spots and given our website's huge following in the US, we developed a G-rated commercial that we felt would meet the network's advertising standards."

Here is Peta's Veggie Love spot from their 2009 rejected cry.
